Moments at Work

Tyler and I are really grateful for work and the blessings that it brings to our lives. We are grateful for both the work that we are able to do to support each other, and the ways that work has helped us to learn and grow. We both feel very strongly about someday teaching our own children the value and importance of hard work.

A few weeks ago, Tyler came to my job with me. I introduced him to my class of Kindergarten kids as "Tyler, my husband." One of the kids must have had a lightbulb moment and immediately asked, "Does that mean you are his wife?" The kids seemed to enjoy having someone new in the classroom, especially at recess time when they could show off their running and playing skills. It was also really fun for me to have him there as a part of my day-to-day work activities. He even braved helping some kids to finish up our class painting project that was featured in our school Arts Night the following week.

He has always been so supportive of my job, and that means so much to me! I am also really proud of him and so grateful for the work that he does for us. He works all day and then spends most of his evenings doing homework or going to class for his Master's degree. He works so hard to do well in both responsibilities, and I was so glad when his efforts and abilities were recognized recently through a new job offer. Tyler is now working as a financial analyst, which is something that he has been interested in doing for a long time. We have been so happy and excited about the change, and feel that it is a big blessing for us right now.

Although it certainly makes life busy, we are also so grateful for the opportunities we've had to pursue education. We think often of the saying about how to eat an elephant...

But the end is in sight, and we are looking forward to celebrating Tyler's graduation in December!
